During DMY Berlin 2013 the, now almost, traditional, exhibition was staged presenting all entries for this years Designpreis der Bundesrepublik Deutschland. An exhibition which also served as the platform for the jury meeting to decide on the 2013 nominees.
Looking at the exhibition in Tempelhof Airport we couldn’t help thinking that there were fewer entries than 2012 – that may have been visual a illusion, we will no doubt have to wait until after the awards ceremony before any formal numbers are released.
However what we can say for certain is that 65 projects were nominated in the three categories.
In the product design category we were especially happy to see the jury give a nod to, amongst others, Asienta by Jehs+Laub for Wilkhahn, the porcelain collection Noble by Hering Berlin and Plot by Osko + Deichmann for Brunner.
Plot also received a second, albeit indirect, nomination thanks to the jury’s recognition in the Communication Design category of Ippolito Fleitz Group’s design for Brunner’s Milan 2012 stand. A stand that was, pretty much, solely devoted to Plot.
And we were absolutely delighted to see a nomination in the Young Talent category for the collapsible furniture concept Resmo by Chien-Hui Ko, a project that was one of our highlights of the Kunsthochschule Weissensee 2012 Diploma exhibition.

The Awards themselves will be presented on September 12th 2013. We’ll be there, and can’t wait to see who is going to awarded the 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award….. No honest, after last year, we can’t wait!
